All About Mrs. Brawner

ABOUT MRS. BRAWNER
Born and raised in the small town of Southampton, New York, I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Psychology and Elementary Education (although it's hard to tell with all the burnt orange my family wears!).  At Vanderbilt I was also a member of the women's track team.  After graduating, I served as a  Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Kiribati, South Pacific.  Following my service, I pursued my Master's degree in Linguistics from Northern Arizona University while working with Apache students in the White Mountains of Arizona.  After marrying my husband, John, and starting our family in Austin, I am now happy to call San Antonio home!  I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes our children Avery, 10, and Jack, 8!  Running, reading, and traveling are some of my favorite activities.

I could never imagine not having teaching in my life.  This will be my 18th year teaching, and of those 14 have been in third grade.  No year is the same as the last, and I am continuously being educated by every group of students who come through the classroom door!  I love seeing kids find that spark for learning, and realize their potential is unlimited.  I appreciate and encourage all communication as we work together this year!  As the saying goes, it definitely takes a village!             Looking forward to a great new school year with our class!
